Guidance & Counseling
The counseling department consists of five school counselors
and a director of guidance. Every student in the Blind Brook
schools has access to a school counselor. We are one of very
few districts in the region that has an elementary school counselor
to work with the younger children.
The counselors meet with students, both individually and in groups, to work on
academic, personal and social issues. In the middle and high school, the counselor
works with students as they prepare their academic programs and manage their
school life. In addition, the counselor works closely with the students as they
develop plans for post-secondary school education.
The counselors strive to foster meaningful partnerships with the parents of our
students. This relationship enhances our ability to provide care for students
as they navigate the often challenging years of childhood and adolescence. Our
reward is to witness our students graduate with a positive sense of self and
with a direction in regard to college and/or career.
